Summer Party Menu Allergy-Friendly

pitchers of lemonade

For years we’ve been asked about dairy-free menus for summer parties. Great question!

While one of my sons has a summer birthday, this is easy for me.

We’ve been dishing up allergy-friendly, crowd-pleasing meals for several years now.

Example, my youngest’s fourth birthday party.

At his request, we hosted family and friends for a yellow sunshine party.

Perfect for summer.

In case you’re wondering, at the sweet age of four, he based this request on his favorite song, You Are My Sunshine.

How could I say no to that?

Homemade yellow, sunshiny lemonade just screams summer birthday party.

Plus, we served an easy, delicious allergy-friendly lunch that nobody knew was dairy-free and nut-free.

Green Beans
Lays Plain Potato Chips, Lays BBQ Chips, or Fritos

A little more about the party in case you’re interested…

I would have done these activities outdoors, but it was super hot.

The adults wouldn’t leave the air conditioning.

And the kids loved sitting at our adjustable camp table (amazon link).

It’s durable resin and can be raised to adult height or lowered to children’s height.

Great for outdoors and indoors, plus it folds in half for easy storage.

We’ve used it for so many things over the years!

The children enjoyed a game of bing bag toss into the sunshine box. We also threw pennies into buckets.

Sunshine cupcake cones with yellow and orange sprinkles were also a hit.

I used this birthday cake recipe and this vanilla icing.

We let the kiddos decorate their own cupcakes with allergy safe candies.

Smarties, chocolate chips (affiliate), and colored marshmallows.

Can you say sugar high?!

We hope this gives you some ideas on how to have a summer party inexpensively and safely for food allergies.

Have fun!

hi melissa, i actually followed the recipe on the box of cones. i was surprised at how low you fill the cones with batter. and they bake quite awhile, i think mine went longer than what the box said. i would try to find cones with some directions. i don't have my box anymore or i'd give more specifics. they are so good. you should try them again. :)

looks like a fun party! How long did you bake the cupcakes in the cones? And how full did you make them? I tried this once with horrid results, but yours look great!
