Gooey Sticky Buns (VIDEO)

Dairy-free and egg-free vegan sticky buns.

Who’s ready for some ooey gooey fun?!

See recipe below.

It was a cold blustery Saturday, below zero temps outside.

With a cold advisory telling us to stay inside and bake things we don’t need.

Comfort food at its finest.

So that we did!

Actually hubby did.

And as is always the case, when hubby decides to bake…

two things happen.

One, there’s no chocolate involved. Pity me.

And two, you all flip out.

Nice job, guys. Way to make him feel loved.

Because last time Jeffer baked, you all put his vegan snickerdoodles at the top of Pinterest.

I’m proud of him and you all. Really, I am. No hard feelings. Bwahahahaha!

So let’s get to the topic of vegan sticky buns now.

You clearly voted on social media that you had to have this recipe…

so I dare you to pin it and put hubby at the top again. Y’all are in cahoots.

PIN IT FOR HUBS

I’ll never tell him I solicited the sticky buns love…we will just let him think he’s that awesome again.

I was seriously impressed when I came down the stairs to this mound of beautiful dough.

Way to work the yeast, babe! It was looking as good as my sweet roll dough, for sure!

I could tell this recipe was going places.

But here’s where I’m going to claim a little credit.

Because at some point, my darling hubby asked how to roll dough into a 15×9″ rectangle.

Bwahahahahaha! I got you!

Together, we bonded over rolling dough into 90 degree angles.

And then we spread the sticky bun goodness over the top.

I could tell this was looking different than vegan cinnamon rolls now.

That spread was much runnier.

And here’s where things got really “sticky”.

Or shall I say, mouth watering.

Peeps, I’ve never heard of or eaten sticky buns.

But alas, here’s what makes them unique.

We pour this cinnamon-ish liquid in the bottom of the pan before we put the dough into it.

I just had to snap a picture while hubby poured this goodness into one of my favorite non-stick, non-teflon pans. (affiliate)

PS: This is my favorite pan for double layer vegan cake, too. Pops out every time.

Go babe, you got this!

Earth Balance, not sponsored. lol Look at that perfect product placement.

Here are dairy-free butter ideas you may need.

Let’s just say there’s a LOT of dairy-free butter in this recipe!

And oh yes,

he didn’t half the recipe.

So we actually had two pans going.

But that worked great. We ate one hot that Saturday afternoon,

and refrigerated the other one (covered with plastic wrap) to bake the next morning.

Just pull it out of the refrigerator and bring it to room temperature before baking.

Then, here’s where things got a little hairy.

I was having so much fun watching hubby do this on his own…

that I forgot to give him tips for rolling dough up.

Let’s just say his wasn’t as tight of a roll as I would do.

And he knew it. “Why didn’t you help me?”

Because you’re owning it, babe!

It’s gonna taste just as good, lol.

But look at that closed seam, that he rocked better than me.

Then he cut the log with my tried-and-true trick…

using a bread knife. No dental floss allowed, peeps!

Got those rolls placed in the pans already filled with sticky bun goo.

Next, my job was to find a big plate to flip them onto.

Who knew mama had a stash of fancy glass serving dishes up in the hall closet, lol!

I barely remembered myself.

Then it was time to pull these bad boys out of the oven,

and flip them onto the large plate, piping hot.

Let’s just say hubby was the best man for the job.

I’m prone to burns, people. I have scars to prove it.

This is where the famous sticky bun video comes into play.

Be sure to watch the video in this post!

Thanks for loving it and making me write this post. 😉

We feel the love.

The kids and hubs loved pigging out on this newfound snack.

But I’m going to share the truth.

If your picky kids don’t love soggy stuff, this may not be for them.

It was great with coffee…but honestly, we think for the work involved,

go homemade cinnamon rolls. Eeeeep, I said it!

But these were certainly fun to try.

Don’t hesitate to try them, too, and you can be the judge.

Below is the recipe.

Here is the recipe but below are the dairy and egg free ingredients we successfully used.

dairy-free milk (we used almond)

dairy-free butter

flax egg (perfect for this 1-egg recipe)

Hope you get to give these vegan sticky buns a whirl.

Don’t forget to pin for my hubby.

And let us know in the comments if cinnamon rolls or sticky buns win.

I’d love to hear!
