Even though some store-bought salad dressings look ok for milk allergy,
it’s just too darn easy to make this one myself.
And it’s my son’s favorite!
Dairy-free, egg-free, vegan French dressing, yum.
Or as kiddo called it as a toddler, red dressing.
I make it in five minutes with just five easy ingredients.
And it truly does taste better than bottled.
We use this dressing on salads, in taco salad, and as a veggie dip sometimes.
To get a flavorful tangy taste, my secret ingredient is apple cider vinegar.
Not just any vinegar will do!
I like to store it in a small ball jar in the refrigerator for a couple weeks, especially when fresh lettuce is growing in our garden.
When you have fresh salad, bottled dressing just won’t do, you know?
See our quick video in this post!
WHAT SALADS USE FRENCH DRESSING
We love to use this dressing on three salads especially, all kid-approved. What’s not to love?
- spinach, mushroom, bacon
- taco salad with tortilla chips
- tender garden greens with fresh garden peas
Here’s our yummy, dairy-free taco salad that even my picky kiddo will eat.
WHAT IF THE DRESSING SOLIDIFIES
When I store our homemade French dressing in the refrigerator, it will solidify.
There are two easy ways to bring it back to liquid.
You can set it out thirty minutes before you need it.
Or you can set your jar in a warm water bath.
After the dressing liquifies again,
you’ll need to shake or whisk it to emulsify and blend the oil evenly into the dressing.
But I promise, the little extra work is worth it to have the delicious taste of homemade dressing!
