Easy Slow Cooker Italian Beef Dairy-Free

Slow cooker Italian beef is such an easy, dairy-free dinner, perfect for busy nights.

It’s also great for feeding a crowd.

Plus, it can be made with venison roast, which my hubby loves. See recipe below.

When it comes to dairy-free dinners at our house,

my hubby is definitely the better cook.

He grills and smokes delicious meats that make the whole family ooooo and aaaaaah.

I don’t know why, but he takes great pride in standing over food for hours and hours.

Me? Not so much.

If I’m the chef for the night at our house, I’d much prefer a dump it and leave it kind of recipe.

Let’s just say, slow cooker meals are right up my alley.

The only problem is…hubby and the kids don’t love slow cooker food.

Remember, they are spoiled by delicious eats off the grill and the smoker when dad’s in charge.

But that’s fine. It’s all good. I still have a few slow cooker recipes that my family appreciates and will devour.

Traditional Beef Roast

And now I’m adding Italian beef to the mix, 100% hubby and kid approved.

Plus, the boys in my house love that this can also be made with venison roast.

I don’t mind, there’s enough seasoning to hide the gamey taste. HA!

Served on dairy-free hoagies or sub bread, this dinner fills up all my guys. See info below.

How to make this easy dairy-free dinner with just five ingredients?

I’ll show you how! Let’s get to it.

First off, you’ll need your favorite dairy-free beef broth.

I assured my hubby that I’ve never found a beef bouillon that’s milk-free.

That means we stick to our Swanson canned broth.

Then, there’s the must-have peppers.

This is the jar hubby always grabs.

Next up, you’ll need some dairy-free Italian seasoning!

You can make homemade Italian seasoning

Or grab your favorite brand of dairy-free Italian seasoning mix.

Here are a couple we’ve used at our house.

Of course, you’ll also need a venison or beef roast.

It’s awesome that you don’t even need to brown the meat before throwing it into the crock.

And here’s where it gets even better.

Busy mama, you just dump these ingredients into your slow cooker.

That means you can do other important things like laundry, cleaning, online shopping…

and even running errands if you are one of those who leaves the house with the slow cooker on.

Or hey, spend time hanging out with our allergy moms inside Milk Allergy Mom Membership, fun times!

ITALIAN BEEF INGREDIENTS

2-5 pound roast (beef or venison)
1 can of dairy-free beef broth
1 packet of Italian seasoning
1 (16 ounce) jar pepperoncini

HOW TO MAKE ITALIAN BEEF SANDWICHES

Put roast in slow cooker.

Add can of broth and seasoning packet.

Pour jar of peppers over roast, without draining.

Cook 6-8 hours on high.

Once cooked, shred the tender roast with two forks.

Serve on allergy-friendly hoagie rolls or sub sandwich rolls.

Top sandwiches with mustard if desired.

Serve with chips and green beans.

Easy peasy and delicious!

Leftovers freeze well in an airtight freezer bag.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH ITALIAN BEEF

While Italian beef in the slow cooker is so easy to make,

it’s conducive to the easiest dairy-free sides, too.

Great for feeding a crowd!

We simply pull out our favorite dairy-free potato chips.

Plus, we cook green beans from a can, flavored with salt and pepper.

If it’s a good day, I’ll throw a piece of cooked bacon in the pan of simmering green beans.

This pre-cooked bacon from Sam’s is perfect for the job.

WHAT HOAGIES ARE DAIRY-FREE

Right now we pick up these sub sandwich rolls by Brownberry (check ingredients).

We’ve loved this brand for quite a few bread items we’ve needed as a milk and nut allergy family.

Of course, call the company for processing information if you need to or if your allergist requires it.

My kiddo also enjoys his lunch meat sandwiches made with these sub buns,

something a little different than the ole’ sandwich bread

Here are the ingredients listed on our package of Brownberry sub buns.

Double-check yours. Bread ingredients change so often.

HOW TO FREEZZE ITALIAN BEEF

Because this recipe makes a lot, we often freeze enough for a second meal later.

Unless, of course, you’re feeding this easy dinner to a crowd.

We do that, too!

But if you want to freeze, simply store enough for one night’s dinner in a freezer bag.

I use a quart size freezer bag for our family of four.

Let excess air out, mark the date and name of the food with a permanent marker on the bag, and store flat in the freezer.

To thaw, put in the refrigerator for several hours.

Remove Italian beef from the bag to reheat the meat on the stove or in the microwave.

Italian beef sandwiches are such an easy dump it and forget it slow cooker meal.

We hope your family enjoys this flavorful dairy-free dinner as much as we do!
