Guacamole Dairy-Free & Allergy-Friendly

Why bother looking for dairy-free guacamole at the store when you can easily make it with just 4 ingredients at home!

Super allergy-friendly, milk-free, nut-free, and absolutely delicious.

Here’s how.

Milk allergy moms often ask for simple ways to get healthy fat into dairy-free kiddos.

And guacamole is great way!

Nutritionists often recommend avocado for our kids.

And while mine don’t love it plain,

simple, allergy-friendly guacamole is kid-approved.

Use this guacamole as chip dip, veggie dip, on sandwiches, or eat it plain.

We recently served it to company at our house.

And I kept hearing it was better than fresh guac at Mexican restaurants.


Sophisticated enough for grown-up’s, 

but simple enough for my one-year-old niece.

She ate it by the spoonfuls.

Press a finger gently into the neck area and if it gives just a little, it’s ripe.

No give, it’s not ripe yet.

Too much of a squishy give, and it’s too ripe.

Works for me every time. 

If an avocado starts ripening before you’re ready to use it, put it in the refrigerator.

This buys a little more time!


Wash your ripe avocado first.

Cut your avocado into fourths, not through the pit.

Gently pull off the four peels.

Then pull the four segments gently off the pit.

If the avocado is the perfect ripeness per above, this method works every time!

Freezing Lime Juice


This next tip is one that took us awhile to learn, but it’s huge!

While avocados don’t stay fresh long…limes can be bought ahead of time and saved for later.

Now we buy a whole bag of limes at Aldi.

Juice all the limes at once.

Freeze the juice in an ice cube tray.

Save the cubes in a freezer baggy.

Thaw one cube for each batch of guacamole.

It’s genius and a great time and money saver.

1 avocado
1/2 lime
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon sea salt


Cut a ripe, washed avocado into fourths, not through the pit.

Pull off the four peels.

Spoon out the flesh.

Smash avocado with a fork.

Cut washed lime in half.

Squeeze juice into avocado from 1/2 of the lime.

Add garlic and salt.

Mix well.

Serve fresh with chips, sandwiches, etc. 

Best eaten fresh same-day.

Here's a tip I learned from Martha Stewart for keeping guacamole from turning brown. On top of your bowl of guacamole, press a swatch of plastic wrap right on top of the guacamole. Don't stretch the plastic wrap across the top of the bowl, put push the wrap down on to the guacamole so it completely covers it. That way no air can touch the surface and cause the avocado to turn brown.
