Vanilla Snow Cones Dairy-Free

natural vanilla snowcones

I really wish we could buy snow cones at our local shaved ice place.

But since they also use "cremes" containing milk in the cramped little stand, that's out for us.

Too much contamination risk.

So we just make snow cones at home.

Problem solved!

To shave ice, we simply use our high power blender (affiliate).

Then we make our own simple syrups and store them in condiment squirt bottles (affiliate).

Sometimes we make syrups using Kool-Aid, you can search that online.

But other times we make a simple vanilla syrup with no food coloring.

I know it might sound lame, but seriously, vanilla is so yummy!

And it takes less sugar than Kool-Aid syrup recipes online.

Speaking of sugar, I love to use Sugar in the Raw to make these pretty natural compared to the snow cone stand.

My boys ask for vanilla snow cones over and over in the summer so they are definitely a hit,

even if mom made them.

If you want to go all out,

you can purchase a snow cone machine (affiliate)...

and reusable silicone cones (affiliate) for extra fun.

Now here's our easy recipe!

Homemade Natural Vanilla Snow Cones

NATURAL VANILLA SNOW CONE SYRUP

INGREDIENTS

1 cup water
¼  - ½ cup natural sugar
¼ tsp. vanilla extract (affiliate)

DIRECTIONS

Heat water and sugar on stove until sugar dissolves.

Take off heat and add vanilla.

Store in glass container and refrigerate until fully cooled.

Pour into a plastic squirt bottle once cooled if you choose.

Pour enough syrup on shaved ice to flavor the ice to your liking.

Hope you enjoy these homemade snow cones as much as we do!
