Whoever said allergy-friendly birthday parties don’t have good food…
hasn’t attended one of OUR birthday parties!
Let’s talk about my son’s Minecraft Pool Party one summer.
It was a blast!
And the kids ate like kings. Just look at those happy faces.
As you know, swimming kids make for HUNGRY kids.
So this birthday party was full of snacks, both healthy and not-so-much healthy.
But all the snacks were dairy-free and nut-free for my son who has food allergies.
With the pool water keeping the kids’ hands clean, we didn’t even have to worry about hand wipes, either.
Mom win right there!
MINECRAFT BIRTHDAY THEME
During this particular summer, my son was just getting into the computer game Minecraft.
And he requested it to be his birthday theme.
On a side note, is Minecraft ever going away?
My brother played it decades ago,
and my son is still playing it two years after this party. It’s a classic!
I didn’t do much for décor besides ordering some Minecraft plates and napkins. (affiliate link).
Otherwise, the FOOD made great décor and the whole party theme!
We simply set up a snack table inside the pool area outside, draped over a green table cloth (affiliate link).
You know, grass.
Then I used white square paper plates (affiliate link) and clear plastic tongs for each snack.
The white just makes the fun food POP!
The hardest part was creating the little signs for the snacks,
but the kiddos LOVED knowing what Minecraft loot they were chowing down.
So it was worth it. I printed them in a pixel font, of course. lol
FREE MINECRAFT SNACK SIGNS
Here’s a free printable sheet I made for the snack signs.
If you love it, please pin and share this post so others can use it, too. Thanks!
Now onto the snacks!

MINECRAFT RICE TREATS
For the “birthday cake”, I made layered rice crispy treats with natural food coloring (referral link).
Green and brown for grass and dirt.
We cut them into “blocks” and stacked them onto a decorative cake plate.
And sang happy birthday with candles, of course!
I’d say this was one unforgettable 10th birthday for our boy.
A big thank-you to my friend at Delia Creates for this fab idea.
If you get a chance to host a Minecraft birthday party, allergy-friendly or not, we’d love to hear about it!

We did a Minecraft-themed party for my son’s 9th birthday two years ago. All the treats and dessert were allergen safe (he was allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and tree nuts, although he has since outgrown his allergy to peanuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts, and last summer passed a baked egg challenge). All the ideas came from Pinterest. The “cake” was a pull-apart cupcake sword. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be an option to include photos in the comments.

How fun!!! Our kids must be the same age and like the same things, lol.
