I don’t know that this food allergy family will ever step foot into a seafood restaurant.
But that’s ok. Because we can make those famous cheesy garlic biscuits at home!
That’s right, dairy and egg free, melt-in-your-mouth cheesy biscuits. See recipe below.
Believe it or not, we’ve been making delicious dairy-free cheesy garlic biscuits for years…
even with a milk allergy.
And what’s best?
There’s a fabulous shortcut for these so you can have ’em made in as little as 15 minutes. BAM!
OR you can make them from scratch. I’ll show you how to do both, and you can choose.
Recipes below.
First off, dairy-free cheese shreds are a God-send and make these super easy for milk allergy moms.
I used to have to tear dairy-free cheese slices into small pieces for these biscuits.
We’ve come a long way, baby!
Secondly, using a baking mix makes these super fast. Like double-time fast.
Bisquick baking mix has been our favorite for years.
However, be sure to read labels because SOME Bisquick varieties do contain milk.
These biscuits are so good when served with 30-minute potato soup.

DAIRY-FREE CHEESY GARLIC BISCUITS
2 cups baking mix
2/3 cup dairy-free milk
1/2 cup dairy-free shredded cheddar
2 tablespoons dairy-free butter
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat oven to 450.
Mix together baking mix, milk, and cheddar in a large bowl, by hand.
Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of baking mix onto a clean cutting board.
Put dough onto cutting board sprinkled with baking mix.
Flip the dough over a couple times so both sides are lightly coated in baking mix flour.
Without overworking, pat the dough down evenly until it’s 1/2″ thick.
Cut biscuits out of the dough using a small cup.
Place circle biscuits on a baking sheet and place in oven.
Bake 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
While baking, melt the dairy-free butter in a small dish and stir garlic powder into the melted butter.
When the biscuits come out of the oven, immediately brush garlic butter over each.
Serve hot and fresh.
Store any extras in an airtight bag and refrigerate. Heat leftovers in microwave for 10 second to enjoy hot again.
Not using Bisquick? See our homemade cheesy biscuit recipe below.
HOMEMADE CHEESY GARLIC BISCUITS
To make these dairy-free cheesy garlic biscuits from scratch,
I simply make up my homemade biscuit dough, with dairy-free cheese shreds added.
Plus, I still brush them with the garlic butter when they come out of the oven.
Instead of using 2 ingredients of Bisquick and dairy-free milk,
homemade cheesy biscuits will take 6 ingredients to replace baking mix, plus milk and cheese.
I’ll show you how.
HOMEMADE CHEESY GARLIC BISCUIT INGREDIENTS
1 cup dairy-free milk
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cold dairy-free butter
2 tablespoons shortening (or 2 more tablespoons butter)
1/2 cup dairy-free shredded cheddar
2 tablespoons dairy-free butter
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE CHEESY GARLIC BISCUITS
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cheese.
Cut in the dairy-free butter and shortening with a fork.
Make a well in the flour mixture and pour cold milk in.
Hand-mix the wet and dry ingredients together with a spoon just until combined. Don’t over mix.
Flour a large cutting board with 2 tablespoons of flour.
Place dough onto the floured surface and turn it over, coating both sides in flour.
Don’t knead, just flip the dough a few times and shape it into a small disk.
Flatten the dough into a 1/2 inch thick circle using your hands, no rolling pin.
Using a cookie cutter or rim of a small glass, cut the dough into 12 biscuits.
With leftover dough, gently flatten it into another 1/2″ high circle and cut remaining biscuits.
Form the last of the dough into a small biscuit, without overworking it.
Place biscuits on a baking sheet and place in oven.
Bake 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
While baking, melt the dairy-free butter in a small dish and stir garlic powder into the butter.
When the biscuits come out of the oven, immediately brush the garlic butter over each.
Serve hot and fresh.
Store any extras in an airtight bag and refrigerate. Heat leftovers in microwave for 10 second to enjoy hot again.
Hope you enjoy these cheesy dairy-free biscuits as much as we do.
