Easy Homemade Cinnamon Syrup

Oh friend, arrival of the autumn season means so many things...

pumpkin spice lattes, apple crisps, caramel corn.

But know what else it means?

Cinnamon syrup!

I'm serious, folks.

This little concoction is so simple,

yet it can bring so much happiness and warmth as we adjust to these cooler days inside.

Initially, I started making cinnamon syrup so I could make apple cider on the cheap one Halloween.

But quickly I realized this simple syrup would be delicious for many other treats.

Next up, I used it in my homemade cold brew lattes. Cinnamon latte!

Then it topped my favorite waffles.

If you aren't nut-free, imagine adding cinnamon syrup AND pecans to your waffles. Mmmmmm!

My hubby also uses it to sweeten his oatmeal.

And it's super delicious in hot green tea.

Really versatile, what's not to love?

Thankfully, it only takes minutes to make when you need a new batch.

No need to run out and tap a tree. lol

Top secret? I got the idea for this recipe from Starbucks...

when I saw they made their caramel apple cider with cinnamon syrup.

It seemed like a simple hack, and I was right.

Obviously, this is a new must-have for fall.

Cozy up in a blanket, grab a book, and enjoy all things cinnamon.

Warm and wonderful, we keep this stocked all through Christmas.

Here's the easy recipe, just 4 ingredients plus water!

HOW TO MAKE CINNAMON SYRUP

½ cup white sugar
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup water

Stir together the white sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small saucepan.

Stir in vanilla extract and water.

Bring to a rolling boil, stirring often.

Continue to boil and stir until mixture thickens to syrup consistency.

Remove from heat.

Serve over pancakes, waffles, or oatmeal, in hot tea or a latte.

Store extra cinnamon syrup in an airtight container and keep it in the refrigerator for later.

Hope you enjoy this easy cinnamon syrup as much as we do.

This cinnamon syrup is also delicious in our easy homemade apple cider!
