Oreo Smores Dairy-Free

This fun smores concoction comes from my seven-year-old neighbor girl, Lily.

While hosting the neighbor kids at our fire pit,

little Lily asked if we'd ever had s'moreos.

And I laughed so hard.

Lily is known for her hysterical antics. 

So I thought this was just another one of her silly play on words.

But she assured me, this was a THING. 

At least at Girl Scout camp it was. 

As a milk allergy mom, I of course had some classic Oreos in the pantry. 

The only other thing we needed was large marshmallows. 

Check, had those, too!

And as the fire pit fun got going...

you guessed it...

we were soon roasting marshmallows and building fun s'moreos!

Once I got over my laughing fit, that is.

Toasted marshmallows smashed inside classic Oreos. 

What a surprise to discover these actually tasted delicious!

Lily promised, and she was right.

A legit fire pit treat, so easy to make. 

Years later, this has become our favorite way to treat family and friends to smores...

without having to blow through pricey dairy-free chocolate that I tend to hide and hoard.

A new summer tradition was born that evening,

and we will always have Miss Lily to thank.
