They are loved by both kids and adults, and nobody will even taste that they are allergy-friendly.
No doubt, holiday meals with food allergies can be tricky.
I remember being very overwhelmed about how to have an Easter meal with my baby's food allergies.
Now, that baby is taller than me, and a happy, healthy teenager...despite his allergies.
And I can assure you, we have sweet memories of over a dozen Easters with food allergies.
Cousins playing, egg hunts, the freshness of spring, and celebrating Jesus!
At Easter, we keep the food simple and the time together special.
I'd love to share our classic Easter menu with you!
This post was originally written so my mother-in-law and I would remember what to cook each year. HA!
When we keep the meal the same year after year, it makes it easy on us AND it becomes a fun tradition.
Since we do Easter dinner at my in-laws, we definitely have a good system for keeping kiddo safe during meals away from home.
OUR HOLIDAY SAFETY SYSTEM
- My mother-in-law saves all the labels for us to read and double-check.
- My mother-in-law knows cross-contamination protocol, and gives us a debriefing when we arrive.
- We take our son through the food line first and pull out and label all his leftovers for later.
- We always have our epi and meds nearby.
These simple steps have become habit over the years.
We don't let our guard down. But we also don't let overwhelm paralyze us.
Just keep practicing year after year, and it gets easier.

What kind of ham did you purchase? Some meats have caesin and that is what we are trying to avoid. Also I’m going to try and make the carrot cake. I’ve been craving it!
Kretchmar is what we get each year. Check labels for sure. Yay carrot cake!
Molly, thanks for sharing. Do what's best for your fam...yes! 🙂 Jesus bread, love that! Have a wonderful holiday with your family.
This is the first time we are opting not to eat with my husband's extended family. It was so stressful at the same host's house for Thanksgiving because she doesn't consider our food allergies (for example, she forgot and put butter on the turkey last year). We will go for a visit earlier in the day and leave before their meal, and I feel so much relief. For my little family, I will cook a ham, potatoes cooked in coconut oil, salad, and resurrection bread (or "Jesus bread" as my kids like to call it). 🙂 I love your idea of the creamed corn casserole and may have to try that or the sweet potato dish you mentioned.
