Easy Chicken & Dumplings Dairy-Free (VIDEO)

Dairy-free chicken and dumplings, totally do-able.
And it can even be a quick 30-minute meal with a few shortcuts!

We are so excited to have this popular dairy-free chicken and dumplings recipe back up and running at Milk Allergy Mom.

Thank you for all your interest and concern that it disappeared temporarily.

We had linked to a favorite chicken gravy recipe that unfortunately is no longer online.

Such a bummer.

But thankfully, I’m able to pull together a similar recipe.

Just like we love it…

with no cream of chicken or mushroom soup needed.

Completely and easily dairy-free.

Awesome for our milk allergy friends!

And so flavorful using homemade chicken broth.

However, Swanson’s broth may be a shortcut if you prefer (check labels first, ingredients can change).

Use leftover chicken from roasted chicken.

Dairy-free baking mix makes fast dumplings. Check label, of course.

Using frozen vegetables also makes this a fast meal to make.

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup dairy-free butter
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 cups chicken broth
3/4 cup unsweetened dairy-free milk
2-3 cups of leftover cooked chicken, diced
8 ounces of frozen peas and/or carrots

In a saucepan, cook onions in dairy-free butter until tender.

Stir in flour, salt, thyme, and pepper. Stir and incorporate together.

Slowly add chicken broth and dairy-free milk, whisking continuously.

Cook and continue to stir until thick and bubbly.

Stir in peas and carrots and chicken.

Cook until bubbly again, then simmer on low heat.

Prepare dumpling recipe below.

If you can use Bisquick, I use the biscuit recipe on the box with dairy-free milk, unsweet. Make sure the baking mix is safe for your allergies by reading the label and calling the company if need be.

But I lessen the measurements to:

1/2 cup Bisquick
3 tablespoons dairy-free milk

Combine the Bisquick and dairy-free milk to make biscuit dough.

Of if you have time, here’s a homemade biscuit recipe

When the chicken gravy is heated through, drop biscuit dough by 1/2 teaspoons into the hot mixture.

Cook on medium heat uncovered for 10 minutes.

Then cover the pan with a lid and cook another 10 minutes on low to medium heat until the dumplings are done.

Serve hot and enjoy!

Hope you like these easy chicken and dumplings as much as we do.

The recipe link for Tammy's does not work. A big red box comes up with all kinds of code in it saying there is an error. Do you have the recipe you can post?

Help! I can’t get the chicken gravy recipe link to pull up from Tammy’s. Can you post the recipe at all? We are dairy, peanut, tree but, and egg free here and would really like to try this recipe!
