Epic Universe Dairy & Nut Free
Our family was so excited to check out the new Epic Universe and all the dairy-free food it has to offer!
It's the latest theme park to be built in Orlando and is the fourth park to become part of the Universal Orlando Resort.
Opened in May 2025, we were there for the very last Preview Day before the park opened to the public.
Here's the food we found for our kiddo with food allergies.

It was seriously so fun experiencing Universal Orlando with our kids for the first time ever.
We hit all four parks: Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and the brand new Epic Universe.
Along the way, we documented all the dairy-free and nut-free food our kiddo enjoyed.
However, for this post, we are going to focus solely on Epic.
With the park being so new and not even officially open yet when we went...it was quite a task to find allergy-friendly foods.
The day after our trip to the new theme park, however, allergy notes finally popped up for Epic in the Universal Resort app.
Great news for any food allergy families getting ready to visit Epic themselves.
Let's get to the food finds!
IMPORTANT NOTES
Please read these important items before eating at Epic Universe.
- OUR ALLERGY STATUS
First, you should know my son has been in milk allergy treatment for several years.
That means he can now have food cross contaminated with milk or even with a little baked milk.
When we had to strictly avoid dairy with our anaphylactic milk allergy, we always brought our kiddo's own food to theme parks.
As for tree nuts, kiddo avoids all but almonds. In recent years, he's passed challenges for hazelnut and walnut. But we must strictly avoid pistachio and cashew so it's best for us to keep avoiding all tree nuts for now.
Make sure you talk to your allergist about how to safely eat at theme parks.
- EPIC UNIVERSE ALLERGY INFO
Second, know that there is a Universal Orlando Resort app that is a great first step to navigating food allergies at Epic Universe.
Just click into the menus, and there they list foods and allergens.
When you enter a quick service restaurant, you scan a QR code at the table and note that you have allergies.
Then a chef should come to your table to go over foods and ingredients with you.
To make navigating allergies at this new place easier, we ate at off times like 11:00 am lunch and 7:00 pm dinner with snacks in between.
Most of our allergy meals were marked with a purple pick, like Disney does.
Now for the food we checked out, in no particular order.
1. Pizza Moon
LOCATION: Celestial Park
STYLE: Quick Service
VEGAN NUT-FREE: 12" Harvest Moon Pizza
NOTE: Not sure if you can customize a dairy and nut free pizza, but it's worth asking.
To make ordering as easy as possible, we just ordered kiddo the Harvest Moon Pizza as-is.
The chef said they use no dairy-free cheese for their vegan pizza.
Instead, they just omit cheese.
My son wasn't a huge fan of artichoke, tomato, pepper, olive, arugula pizza.
Next time I would ask if he can just have a pepperoni or sausage pizza with no cheese.
But he was hungry, and he ate it without complaining.
We love that the chef himself took the order and brought the pizza, making two appreciated trips to our table.
All three pizzas our family ordered there were definitely notches above typical theme park pizza.
2. Cafe L'air De La Sirene
LOCATION: Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic
STYLE: Quick Service
VEGAN NUT-FREE: Frozen Vegan Butter Beer
NOTE: There's also a butter beer cart in this world, but the café is air conditioned and a great place to cool off. We were told the cold and frozen butter beers are dairy-free, but we need to order the vegan version to make sure the foam topping is used. There's also a dairy topping. Hot butter beers contain dairy so we only ordered cold or frozen with the vegan topping.
We more stopped in this café as a way to cool off during the treacherous heat wave in mid-May.
Kiddo ordered a VEGAN frozen butter beer, and we learned the vegan versions are marked on the bottom of the cup.
It was important for us to verify that our son received the vegan version as our other son ordered the regular frozen butter beer with dairy topping.
Kiddo says the cold butter beer with vegan topping is great with a meal (like a soda), and the frozen vegan butter beer is a nice snack (like a slushie).
Hot butter beers contain dairy and can't be ordered vegan and dairy-free.
Here's the vegan marking on the bottom of my son's vegan butter beer, a little plant icon.
3. How To Treat Your Dragon
LOCATION: How To Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk
STYLE: Snack Shop
PACKAGED CANDY: Storm Fly Gummy Spines
NOTE: Packaging says may contain peanut, tree nut, milk, soy, wheat, egg, sesame.
Like I do at Disney, I often search for special packaged candies that look allergy-friendly.
And these little sour gummies caught my eye.
They wouldn't melt in the Florida heat, we were even able to easily bring them home on the plane.
These make great little gifts for friends back home.
The shop also had big lollipops, rock candy, cotton candy, and other boxes of gummy candy that looked dairy and nut free.
Here are the Gummy Spines we brought home in our luggage.
4. Frosty Moon
LOCATION: Celestial Park
STYLE: Snack Shop
VEGAN NUT-FREE: Vegan Vanilla Ice Cream & Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie
NOTE: We didn't actually try these vegan treats, but I stopped in to make sure their binder said also nut-free. Always double-check ingredients, they can change.
The chocolate chip cookie is house baked, not pre-packaged according to the person I talked to at the window and the Universal app.
The ice cream can be served in a cup or cone.
Although, we didn't verify the ingredients in the cone, so we'd need to do that.
And there are toppings available that would also need ingredients checked: sprinkles, cookie, cake, brownie, marshmallows, etc.
5. Spit Fyre Grill
LOCATION: How To Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk
STYLE: Counter Service
VEGAN NUT-FREE: Valka's Vegan Bowl
NOTE: This is the location popular for the mac and cheese cones so those with severe milk allergy will probably want to check on cross contamination practices before deciding to eat here. We skipped it.
This location serves five different bowls of grilled food and three flavors of mac and cheese cones.
The one vegan, dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free item is a grilled bowl containing kale, bean salad, pineapple salsa, candy beets, vegan feta, mango and mint vinaigrette.
We didn't actually eat at this counter service, but I wanted to mention this dairy, egg, nut free dish shown on the Universal app.
I did snap a pic of the adorable pick-up counter.
6. Sensorium Emporium
LOCATION: Celestial Park
STYLE: Snack & Gift Shop
VEGAN: Vegan Chocolate Bars & Squares
NOTE: Two other bagged vegan chocolate flavors included peanut butter chocolate truffles and hazelnut truffle. Important note for those with peanut or tree nut allergy. Check manufacturing info if you need to.
After the rides closed at 8pm, we wanted to enjoy the beautifully lit park with some shopping.
Since the Celestial Park area and its shops were still open until 9pm, we took advantage.
The Moonship chocolate portion of a shop drew me in as I looked for dairy and nut free packaged candies for the kids.
But I sure didn't expect to find dairy-free chocolate!
These three options looked nut-free on the labels so I picked them up for kiddo to try.
Before our milk allergy treatment and several successful nut challenges, we didn't do any chocolate unless it was specifically made by an allergy-friendly company.
However, kiddo's OIT has made treats like this more safe and possible.
I always recommend those with severe milk allergy be very careful about chocolate, it's often contaminated with dairy.
Amanda's Own and No Whey are some of our favorite allergy-friendly chocolates.
7. Epic Universe Starbucks
LOCATION: Celestial Park
STYLE: Counter Service
VEGAN: Various Drinks
NOTE: There are actually two Starbucks locations at Epic Universe, both in Celestial Park.
I love that the Universal Parks have Starbucks locations.
It's an easy way to enjoy my favorite dairy-free drinks, coconut lattes and green teas.

OUR VERDICT ON EPIC DAIRY & NUT FREE FOOD
What did we leave thinking about dairy-free and nut-free offerings for food allergies at Epic?
THE CONS
- Not a lot to choose from
- Not a lot for basic eaters
- Can't easily customize at quick service
While the dairy and nut free options seemed limited, almost every food location had at least one thing kiddo could theoretically eat.
I do think they are working to accommodate allergies with their helpful app and chefs.
We can also appreciate that most of the food at Epic lives up to the name, Epic.
It's all trying to be very elevated and sophisticated.
Not the best for picky eaters, but super fun for foodies!
And while customizing our food seemed like it would be too much to ask, that might have just been a preview days thing.
As the park starts to settle in and find it's way, I bet the chefs will become as accommodating and helpful as they were at the other Universal parks.
THE PROS
- Several quick service options
- Easy QR menus at tables, with allergy info
- Chefs will talk to you
We love being able to pick up quick food and get back to rides and shows.
It's good to see that most of the eateries at Epic don't require reservations.
The menus on our phones were easy to navigate, I look forward to them adding even more allergy info where it was missing.
And the chefs that we talked to were nice and willing to explain the food.
We always appreciate that.
WHAT I'D DO NEXT TIME
- Try all the fun drinks that are allergy-friendly
- Try Oak & Star for brunch
- Try the French Cafe again when not heat zapped
There are so many fun drinks to try at Epic that look allergy-friendly.
I wish we would have tried more since we need to stay hydrated in the heat of Florida anyways.
Of course, we loved the vegan butter beer and the strawberry mint tea I had at the French cafe in Harry Potter world was delicious.
I'm always vying for a safe brunch, and Oak Star looks like a possibility.
And I know we would have enjoyed the French café so much more if we weren't dying of heat stroke at the time.
People are saying it's the best quick service at Epic. We need to try more there.
I'd go at an off time and talk to a chef.
Overall, we are very glad we went and were one of the first to see this new park!
We helped make history!
And my kids loved the innovative rides more than food, as always.
They most loved the Stardust Racers rollercoaster.
Maybe someday we will make it onto the Harry Potter ride, Battle at the Ministry.
I hope these dairy and nut free food ideas at the new Epic Universe theme park are helpful.
If you find other fun foods we should include, let us know.
You can save this Epic post on Pinterest for later.
