Today as part of our 2020 Erin Condren Planner Series,
we are covering one of my favorite things about EC planners.
BUDGETS!
I know, I'm a total geek to think that tracking and crunching numbers is a whole lotta fun.
But I do.
And don't you deny it, I know soooooo many of you want to do this in your planner, too.
I know because you ask me about this all the time, lol.
So yes, I have kept our home budget in my Erin Condren Life Planner now for 5 years.
It's so much easier than the old budget binder I used.
That was clunky and overdone.
This is so much easier.
I've simplified my system over the years, and outside of our set monthly bills,
there are now just 4 simple spending categories that I track receipts with.
MY 4 BUDGET CATEGORIES
GROCERIES
EATING OUT
CARS
MISCELLANEOUS
Cars includes gas, license fees, vehicle maintenance, etc.
Miscellaneous includes clothes, gifts, home repair, etc.
My husband has now started to double-track our spending on some kind of app.
I tried. I failed.
I'm sticking to my paper and to my budget this way.
If electronic budget keeping doesn't work for you,
don't give up. Try paper!
Paper ledgers are like cursive...they should never die.
It's my sole responsibility to keep paper ledgers alive.

Again, I save $300 a month and put my family in the "low spending" category for food according to the USDA...
every time I track our spending and receipts in my Erin Condren Planner.
Any month where it gets hectic and I don't track, we overspend.
And I'm back in the "high food spending category".
Let me tell you, low food spending with severe food allergies is a feat.
