GRAPE JELLY MEATBALL REVIEW
"I’m always asked to make hot and spicy grape jelly meatballs for our family’s Christmas Eve party. I had to make them wheat free, dairy free, and eggless. I followed your recipe w/o the basil and oregano, because I just needed a basic, non-herb recipe. They’re very good. The texture is very nice. Thanks for a recipe that works!" Pinterest Reader
I know it's really popular to make this sweet appetizer using frozen meatballs.
But as you may know, our homemade meatball recipe is soooooo much better than frozen meatballs.
Truly, you won't regret taking the time to make these from scratch.
It's my food allergy kiddo's favorite food of all time, totally worth the effort.
After you have your meatballs made, the sauce just requires two ingredients.
Grape jelly and chili sauce. Super easy!
Here are ingredients on our bottle of chili sauce.
But always check ingredients for yourself. They can change.
Then we use our favorite grape jelly that we have on hand.
Many are allergy-friendly but always double-check the labels.
GRAPE JELLY MEATBALLS RECIPE
Makes 30 meatballs.
Feel free to double the recipe for a large party.
INGREDIENTS
30 cooked meatballs (see our meatball recipe)
6 oz. of chili sauce (½ bottle)
¾ cup grape jelly
DIRECTIONS
Mix the chili sauce and grape jelly together.
Place cooked meatballs in a large pot or crock pot.
Pour the sauce over the meatballs.
Toss the meatballs and sauce gently until all the meatballs are coated in sauce.
Simmer the meatballs in the sauce on low heat.
Once heated through, enjoy these meatballs hot as a tasty appetizer.
Refrigerate any leftovers for the next day.
They heat up great even in the microwave.
MAKE AHEAD OPTION
If you want to work ahead, make the homemade meatballs the day before.
Store them in the refrigerator in an airtight container, without the sauce.
When you're ready for grape jelly meatballs, make the sauce and simmer the meatballs in the sauce until heated through.
This is a great way to prep for parties a day ahead.
We hope you enjoy these sweet, grape jelly meatball appetizers as much as we do!
