Hot Chocolate by Sillycow Farms
We have a new favorite dairy-free hot chocolate mix at our house.
And there are several fun flavors to choose from!
Just heat your preferred dairy-free milk and add it to the mix.

I kept seeing these cute bottles of hot cocoa mix when I was out shopping.
But as our Milk Allergy Mom members agreed, the cow picture instantly made me think they would contain dairy.
So I didn't give the hot chocolate mix a second look for a long time.
It took other milk allergy moms to enlighten me that this brand, Sillycow Farms, indeed made dairy-free hot chocolate!
Who would have guessed?
Not only does it have a picture of a cow, but the word "cow" is in the name.
I really thought this couldn't be safe for our son with milk allergy.
Ironically, it turns out Sillycow Farms really does make dairy-free hot cocoa milk.
In addition, there are other features they highlight, too.
WHAT TO LOVE ABOUT SILLYCOW FARMS
According to their website, Sillycow Farms hot cocoas are:
- Certified Gluten-Free
- Non-GMO Project Verified
- Featured by Eat This, Not That
The 10 flavors shown on the Sillycow website also say they are "allergen-free".
And while we know one could be allergic to cocoa powder and such, perhaps they mean top 9 allergen-free.
We haven't called to verify so be sure to contact them if you need manufacturing information.
As always, double-check the labels because ingredients can change. And call the company for manufacturing processes if you need to. Just because these work for our allergies, doesn’t mean they will work for yours. Be safe!
LABELING NOTE
As an allergy mom, I think it's also important to point out that the label is not printed on the bottles themselves.
They are just tags attached with rubber bands.
If you have severe allergies, I would keep the tag on the bottle, AND I would double-check the Sillycow website to make sure the tag is on the correct bottle.
So far my kids most love the Chocolate Truffle flavor.
In the winter, I make a little hot cocoa bar on the counter, and we help ourselves.
It doesn't have to be anything elaborate, as you can see!
My kids just like to add our favorite natural marshmallows.
The kids make theirs with oat milk heated in the microwave. Hubby uses dairy milk. And I use flax or coconut milk.
That's what's great about these...use whatever milk works for you.
As I mentioned, I find these readily available in many stores.
Some of my favorite places to find them is at Sierra, TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshall's on discount.
But you can also find them in grocery stores.
There's a different color cap for each flavor, I believe.
So figure out your favorite flavor and keep your eyes peeled for that color!
And did I mention, the bottles are made with glass and can be reused for various things around your house?
