How To Wash Microfiber Cleaning Cloths

Considering the microfiber bandwagon but aren’t sure how to wash these heavy-duty cleaning cloths?

There’s definitely a science to keeping your cloths like-new.

And once you know the easy tips and tricks, your e-cloths can last for years!

In 2013, I learned about and fell in love with high quality microfiber cleaning cloths.

And e-cloth has been our brand of choice ever since.

Today, I know you’re stopping in to learn how to wash and care for e-cloth microfiber…I’m happy to help!

I’ve been washing my cloths weekly for years…

so here are some simple tips to keep them fresh and functional for the entire time they are guaranteed.

How to Wash Microfiber Cleaning Cloths

HOW TO WASH MICROFIBER CLOTHS

1. DON’T WASH WITH LINTY ITEMS

This is one of the first things I learned about washing my e-cloths.

They wash up best when thrown in with sheets, jeans, t-shirts.

But don’t wash with socks, towels, fleece, or other items that create lint.

Lint will clog the fibers in your microfiber cloths.

And clogged microfibers don’t trap dirt. No good.

2. NO DRYER SHEETS OR FABRIC SOFTENER

Another thing that can clog microfibers is fabric softener or dryer sheets.

So that’s another no-no when it comes to washing your e-cloths.

Don’t worry, e-cloths are soft already.

3. DON’T USE BLEACH

Bleach can tear down microfibers.

Compromised microfiber doesn’t work as well.

So definitely don’t reach for the bleach when it comes to cleaning your e-cloths.

Okay?

4. WASH & DRY ON HOT

If we think about how microfibers work,

we want them open and ready to trap dirt and gunk.

This is what rinsing them and washing them does…releases the gunk, opens the fibers for next use.

So I love to wash my e-cloths all together on hot,

with my regular laundry detergent.

I also dry them on high heat.

E-cloths like it hot!

5. COLORS CAN RUN FIRST TIME

While I love the beautiful array of e-cloth colors,

the company has always said they may run and stain in your first wash.

Although, thankfully, this has never happened to me.

But to be extra careful, go ahead and wash your new e-cloths separate the first time.

We don’t wanna turn your new white t-shirt pink.

6. WHEN IN DOUBT, BOIL

E-cloths easily last a couple years when cared for correctly.

But things happen and sometimes an e-cloth may under-perform as a result.

Not rinsing them well? They may smell sour.

Clogged with oil or fabric softener? They may feel greasy.

When these things happen to me, I simply get a pot of boiling water going on the stove.

Put in a splash of vinegar for good measure.

And I boil said cloth for 10 minutes.

This should open the fibers and release the extra gunk.

Then follow up with a good machine wash and dry, and we’re good to go.
