Instant Oatmeal By Quaker
Hey Friends!
Jamie here with another hard-to-believe it's dairy-free food find. Aren't those the best?!
And today we are talking instant oatmeal.
You guys, my kids only ate plain oats from one of those ginormous tubs just up until recently.
They are teenagers now!
Yes, I didn't even want to believe that any instant oatmeal could be ok for our severe milk allergy.
I mean, they are so creamy...how could that be?
But as you know around here, it's the hubs that takes the plunge.
And I stand by with baited breath (and the epi)...along for the ride.
My son and hubby are so brave!
Literally 100% of the time so far, these two have gotten it right when it comes to reading labels and trying new things.
And the instant oatmeal was yet another big win for this milk and nut allergy family.
PLEASE NOTE: Here at Milk Allergy Mom, we simply share products that work for our family. Please consult your own doctor before trying food, supplements, or other products. Also read all labels and call companies for the latest, most accurate product information.
Ingredient list below. But always check for yourself, it can change.
First it started with the Maple Brown Sugar flavor.
My kids love it more than mom's maple brown sugar oatmeal. I'm offended, ha!
And we can find handy Quaker Oat Maple Brown Sugar single cups for vacation and our emergency kit.
Hey, a food allergy convenience? I'll take it, thank you.
We just heat water up in a hotel microwave and add it to the oat cups for a filling breakfast before we head out the door for vacation fun.
But there are also a couple more flavors my kids have come to like, as well.
You know what that means.
More variety means less chance of burnout. #momproblems

So we super duper love this instant oats variety pack:
Apple Cinnamon
Maple Brown Sugar
Cinnamon Spice
AND it has reduced sugar.
Which helps me bridge that gap from mom's amazing oatmeal of 12 years to sugary fast oatmeal the kids make on their own.
What a nice compromise we have going here.
That's right, kids can make this breakfast themselves eventually.
We have an awesome electric tea kettle (affiliate) that makes it super easy.
I use the kettle for tea, hubs uses it for coffee pour over,
and well...the kids use it for instant oatmeal several times a week.

Hey! I became obsessed with Quaker Oats this last year trying to find dairy-free breakfasts and, through that, started making my own instant oatmeal. The creaminess? You can replicate that on your own by blending quick oats. I make my own instant with a 9:1 ratio of 9 cups instant oats, and 1 cup blended oats. The blended oats gives the oatmeal it's creaminess. From there I add brown sugar, cinnamon, and diced dried fruits. It makes an amazing breakfast, especially with peanut butter (or sunbutter!)
Thanks for the tip, Wayne!
Hi my name is Angela and I love reading your page. It always comes in handy when I need to find out if a item contains dairy . I am 36 and could have dairy until I turned 30 and it started to make me sick. I love Oatmeal and have come to enjoy the quaker gluten freeOatmeal. However I was shopping the other day and came across the new quaker furit fusions. I was curious to see the Ingredients becuase most furit Oatmeals contain dairy. But after reading the ingredients it doesn't list any dairy. I am wondering if you have come across this new Oatmeal and what your take is on it?!
Hi Angela! I'm sorry, we haven't tried that version. But we can ask our Facebook page if they have tried it. 🙂
Your blog is such a blessing. Our 9 month old son has a severe milk allergy to where he gets so sick and breaks out in hives if he even touches milk. We have been working towards becoming dairy free and I was just super happy to find your blog.
