Can you eat ice cream if you’re allergic to milk?
Well, not dairy ice cream. But good news!
There are many dairy-free frozen desserts to buy these days.
Here is one of our favorites at Milk Allergy Mom.
As always, double-check the labels because ingredients can change. And call the company for manufacturing processes if you need to. Just because these work for our allergies, doesn’t mean they will work for yours. Be safe!
Over the years, we’ve been through quite the ice cream adventure in our milk allergy family.
One of the very first dairy-free ice cream options my son could enjoy was these ice cream sandwiches.
I remember thinking these soy-based treats were so expensive compared to mainstream ice cream.
But it was worth it to see my little guy not have to miss out on all the ice cream treats.
Now, however, I look back and laugh.
These sandwiches are one of the more affordable options these days, compared to what else is out there.
Almond milk and coconut based dairy-free ice creams started to emerge from specialty companies as my kiddo got a little older.
And THOSE can be pricey.
We’ve picked up these ice cream bars while on vacation, numerous times. What a treat.
Then, mainstream brands jumped on the bandwagon, and we started finding store bought dairy-free ice cream in more and more places.
For instance, these dilly bars can be found in all the small towns we hit on road trips.
Plus, dairy-free ice cream at Aldi is a thing now, too!
Yep, we’ve sure been around the block when it comes to finding ice cream with no dairy.
Obviously, one without a milk allergy has many more options to choose from.
But we’ve been grateful for all the frozen treats we’ve found along the way.
OATLY DAIRY-FREE ICE CREAM
Soy and coconut ice cream options have been a welcome treat.
I personally love coconut ice cream the most!
But my kiddo with milk allergy has taken to heart the latest dairy-free alternative craze…
oat milk.
His very favorite milk now is oat milk from Aldi.
So when my hubby saw this oat milk ice cream awhile back, he bought it for my kiddo to try.
Let’s just say, it was love at first taste!
As kiddo easily scooped his spoon through the creamy cold non-dairy ice cream,
I could tell the consistency was much better than we were used to.
So soft and creamy. No need to let it sit out for a few minutes before digging in.
Then he took the bite. And he was in heaven.
The texture and taste of Oatly oat milk ice cream is just what my son has hoped for.
Thankfully, there are several flavors to choose from at our favorite local store. Woohoo!
I’ll show you the ingredients below.

In addition, they sell a larger 32-ounce container of vanilla.

OATLY INGREDIENTS
Here are the ingredient labels on both vanilla and chocolate pints I bought recently.
But always double-check labels for yourself. Ingredients can change at any time.
Also, call the company if need be, for manufacturing information.
Oh, and these cartons are rounded so the ingredients are hard to fully capture. Sorry!
