PB&J Sushi Rolls Dairy-Free

Kiddos getting tired of same old lunch sandwiches?

Then be sure to check out these peanut butter and jelly sushi rolls!

Same ingredients as PBJ, different presentation.

If your kiddo can't have peanut butter, just replace it with your safe alternative if you have one.

Or even try this technique with lunch meat and dairy-free cheese instead.

See our video tutorial in this post.

Until my boys were each age four,

they tested allergic to peanuts.

But that didn't keep us away from jelly sandwiches.

Instead, we used sunflower butter which worked for our food allergies.

Sadly, nut butters like cashew, almond, and hazelnut were out for us...

because one kiddo is also allergic to tree nuts.

So sunflower butter it was.

And once we had our peanut butter alternative,

I couldn't wait to try these little lunch sushi rolls with my little preschoolers.

They were a hit and still are!

Now today, my kids are teens who thankfully can have peanut butter.

But if you're allergic, hopefully you have an alternative like we did.

If you can't have peanut butter or an alternative, feel free to give this a try with your favorite lunch sandwich ingredients.

Perhaps lunch meat on one piece of bread. Dairy-free cheese on another. Roll and cut.

BENTO LUNCHBOX DAIRY-FREE

Be sure to check labels first on all your lunch ingredients.

Not all breads, chips, and granola bars are dairy-free. In fact, most are not.

This bento lunch includes:

  • PBJ sushi roll-up's
  • sweet potato chips
  • watermelon diced
  • orange bell pepper slices
  • dairy-free granola bar

Here's more info on our favorite dairy-free granola bars.

Here's the sweet potato chips we like.

And here's our current favorite bread.

Now see below for how to make PBJ sushi rolls!

We also have a video demonstration in this post for your convenience.

HOW TO MAKE PBJ SUSHI ROLLS

1. Flatten two pieces of dairy-free lunch bread with a rolling pin.

2. Spread dairy-free jam on one slice of flattened bread.

3. Spread dairy-free peanut butter (or your safe substitute) on the other slice of flattened bread.

4. Place one piece of bread on top of the other, peanut butter and jelly not facing together.

5. Roll the breads up into a log.

6. Slice the log into 3-4 pieces using a serrated knife (so they don't smash).

7. Enjoy your fresh PBJ sushi roll-up's or pack them in your lunch bag.

These are best when eaten the day you make them.

Be sure to see our video demonstration in this post, too!

We hope you love these little PBJ sushi rolls as much as we do.

It's one of our favorite dairy-free lunches.
