Quick Service at Disney
In our recent trips to Disney World, our kiddo with milk and nut allergies safely ate several quick service meals!
When we took our first trip to Disney World with food allergies, nearly ten years ago, we stuck to dining reservations and highly trained chefs.
But as we got more comfortable with Disney's allergy-friendly dining, it was time to save time and money by trying more quick service!
We've enjoyed quick service meals in both the parks and at a few resorts.
Here are some of the delicious foods our son gobbled up at Disney in our last visits!

IMPORTANT NOTE
Even at Disney with chefs and staff trained in food allergies, those with severe allergies must still utilize due diligence. Always talk to staff, inquire about ingredients, double-check the food, use your best judgement, and take any other precautions necessary to make sure you stay safe while eating out.
QUICK SERVICE AT DISNEY
The first time we went to Disney when my son was eleven-years-old, we were so nervous about him eating out with his food allergies.
He had never eaten in a restaurant before, because of his anaphylactic dairy and tree nut allergies.
So for that first trip in 2016, we stuck with eating in reservation dining with Disney chefs.
By the end of that trip, we felt brave enough to try one quick service at Animal Kingdom, and it also was a huge hit!
I can link you to that story below.
Then on our few trips since then, we've learned to navigate the quick service options!
Here's how we handle Disney quick service with food allergies:
- eat at off-times like brunch and early dinner
- consult the allergen menu on the Disney app
- cross reference the dairy and nut allergy options
- speak to managers at the quick service locations
- inspect food and make sure it looks good to go
Even with the handy online allergy menus now, we find it still important to talk to the managers.
We let them know our food choice.
Then they can confirm if it's indeed dairy and nut free and if any ingredient changes have happened.
They can also make sure the food is prepared with cross contamination precautions.
Many times, even quick service food comes out with the handy allergy stick marking it as well taken care of.
Although, the stick is never 100% safety confirmation as we experienced one time.
Be sure to read our close-call story, in our post about the Disney dining plan below.
However, because of our diligence and Disney trying their best...kiddo has had 100% success eating dairy and nut free at Disney.
That's four safe trips so far.
Let's get to the quick service inspiration!
Be sure to see the menus for these eateries at the end of this post.
1. EPCOT SUNSHINE SEASONS
My kiddo is a very adventurous eater.
So some of these dishes may look like grown-up meals.
But in fact, they've been chosen by our son.
First up, here's the stir fry he chose at Sunshine Seasons, near the front of EPCOT.
It's more like a food court, and it's often where we can find allergy-friendly packaged snacks like Surf Sweets, too.
Kiddo rated this stir fry at 4.5 -5 stars.
He definitely talked to a chef before ordering this, and it was a hit.
2. EPCOT CONNECTIONS EATERY
Also at EPCOT, we stopped in the Connections Eatery at the front of the park.
PS: It's also where the Starbucks is.
I ordered this delicious General TSO Chicken Salad.
It's on the menu as dairy and nut free!
Petite Kale Blend, Romaine, Broccoli Slaw, Red Bell Pepper, Mandarin Oranges, Edamame, Crispy Wontons, Warm Fried Chicken, General Tso’s Dressing.
Solid five stars from me and hubby.
3. EPCOT REGAL EAGLE SMOKEHOUSE
In the world showcase of EPCOT, our son with food allergies only eats at the America Pavilion.
It's the only country pavilion an by Disney with Disney chefs, I believe.
But Regal Eagle Smokehouse does not disappoint!
Kiddo enjoyed this delicious brisket sandwich after talking to the chef.
And he could try several sauces, which he was thrilled about.
Mustard sauce was his favorite.
I think these were the first safe onion rings he had ever had, too!
Five stars from kiddo!
4. HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
In Hollywood studios, kiddo has safely eaten in the Star Wars area a couple times at Docking Bay 7.
It's not normal plain food and sometimes makes me a little nervous.
But while he loves trying new flavors, this place fits the bill!
I think this dish was Batuuan Beef and Crispy Topato.
Smoky Beef braised in Tamarind Sauce served with Harvest Vegetables.
We definitely talked to staff before ordering, and it was a success!
5. ANIMAL KINGDOM
Animal Kingdom was the very first place my son ate quick service, on our first Disney.
It was at Restaurantosaurus, which is sadly closing soon.
Such a sweet memory for us, and we are still in contact with the amazing manager who took wonderful care of us.
That first time, kiddo ordered your typical chicken strips and fries.
And the couple other times we've been back, we stuck with the tradition.
There are many places at Disney where chicken strips and fries can be ordered, a kid staple.
As always, consult the allergy menus and with the managers or chefs to confirm they will be safe for your allergies.
But here they are in all their glory!
6. ALL-STAR MUSIC RESORT
We don't stay at Disney resorts normally, but we did stay at the budget resort All-Star Music once.
And kiddo even ate well in the food court there.
The food manager and chef learned our allergies, and created some special foods for my son to enjoy.
Kiddo never had chicken and waffles until Disney!
And MICKEY waffles, at that.
Also at All-Star Music one morning, we were surprised with this sweet Mickey pancake!
No dairy, no nuts.
The chef made a Nutella substitute using some allergy-friendly brownie batter.
And loaded up the plate with fresh fruit and crispy bacon.
Kiddo was delighted!
We know Disney waffles are a staple, but going above and beyond to mix things up with pancakes was a welcome treat.
7. PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE RESORT
For a moderate resort, we tried Riverside quick service.
We actually stayed there just one or two nights on our second trip.
The quick service food court there was very nice.
And kiddo enjoyed a couple different sandwiches there.
First up was the club sandwich on a hoagie roll with homemade chips.
So, so good!
And next up was a full-fledged BLT sandwich.
He actually liked this better than the hoagie club sandwich.
Also at Riverside is where we could ask for dairy-free beignets!
And the quick service chef made kiddo the most amazing dairy-free ice cream cookie sandwich.
You can see that at our post about Disney snacks, linked below.
Here's the dairy and nut free BLT!
8. RIVIERA RESORT
Other times that we've tried quick service has been from resort hopping by using the free monorail or sky liner.
Once we had been to Disney a couple times, it became easier to work in some time to check out resorts.
You don't have to be an overnight guest to walk around or even eat at the Disney resorts.
The Riviera is even a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort, and we enjoyed a nice lunch break there.
We took the sky liner from Epcot to the Riviera resort, and ate in their little café called Primo Piatto.
Kiddo enjoyed this very complex meal after talking to a manager with my husband.
Per the Disney website: "Grilled Vegetable Skewer with Harissa-marinated Vegetables, Bell Pepper, Plant-based Cucumber "Yogurt", Lemon-Tomato Vinaigrette, and Quinoa Salad served over a Grilled Pita (Plant-based)"
9. ART OF ANIMATION RESORT
Another resort we checked out while hopping around was Art of Animation.
This is a really fun resort for the kids to experience, even if for a quick walk-through.
And I can't believe it, but none of us captured a picture of the lunch my kiddo enjoyed!
I took a video of him talking to the chef, instead.
He asked for meatloaf, which is hard to believe was dairy-free!
Kiddo gave it 4 stars according to the notes I keep in my phone.
However, we did get a photo of the delicious vegan cupcake my son was able to enjoy!
I think that's why we didn't photo the meatloaf, the cupcake was just so exciting!
You never know what allergy-friendly treats you may find at the different resorts.
Their allergy-friendly desserts are better than at the Disney parks, most times.
There was big signage featuring this seasonal baked treat being plant-based with no dairy, eggs, or honey.
It's just so fun that we can enjoy quick, easy meals on-the-go at Disney World.
I'm so grateful for all the work they've put into their chef and staff training and into their online allergy menus!
We will always talk to chefs and managers, but it's the safe food that keeps us coming back...even from Illinois.
