Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew
Starbucks Sweet Cream Cold Brew is definitely a favorite of mine, and now I make it at home dairy-free!
It's so easy to make with the dairy-free milk of your choice.
See our easy recipe below!
Move over espresso machines, cold brew is all the rage.
And that makes home brewing all the easier.
I was never a fan of having a big bulky espresso machine on my counter...
and having to work so hard for each espresso drink I wanted to make at home.
Truly, spending the money at a coffee drive-thru was easier than the time spent making espresso drinks at home.
But that all changed when I learned to make my own cold brew coffee at home, in bulk!
Not only is it minimal work, all I have to do is let the coffee grinds steep overnight.
Cold brew coffee also tastes just as good as espresso drinks.
And making cold brew coffees also works great for me because I'm an iced coffee girl through and through.
SO! For most of my cold brew coffee recipes, I'm using my own cold brewed coffee made in bulk.
HOWEVER! If you aren't down for making your own, there are plenty of cold brew coffee concentrate brands on the market now.
Feel free to grab a bottle and have it in your refrigerator ready for mixing.
Here is my favorite Starbucks cold brew flavor, sweet cream cold brew, made at home.
VARIATION NOTES
Making sweet cream cold brew at home has many options, so you can make it just the way you like it.
Make your own cold brew concentrate or buy a bottle to keep in your refrigerator. We covered that.
You can also use your favorite milk, dairy or dairy-free. I like to use unsweetened flax milk with added protein.
For the sweet cream, feel free to use spray whipped cream or spray cold foam. Both can be found dairy-free now! I like to use coconut-based spray whip. It's close enough to cold foam.
The vanilla syrup is also optional. When I order at Starbucks, I get my sweet cream cold brew "half sweet". So I use the vanilla syrup sparingly and sometimes skip it altogether. The cream on top is already sweet and blends into the cold brew as I sip.
This really can be a low calorie iced coffee when you make it at home and control all the ingredients yourself.
I can't get a flax milk latte at the coffee shops!
Here's the recipe.
SWEET CREAM COLD BREW RECIPE
Makes 12 Ounces
NOTES
Here's how to make homemade cold brew concentrate for this recipe or you can buy concentrate (affiliate) to speed things along.
Make sure you use actual strong concentrate that needs diluted down 1:1 with water or milk.
If you only have a bottle of cold coffee that doesn't need diluted, you'd use about 7 ounces of cold brew with a splash of your favorite dairy-free creamer or dairy-free milk so not to dilute it down too much. We like strong coffee!
INGREDIENTS
4 ounces cold brew coffee concentrate
4 ounces milk of choice
spray whip or spray cold foam, dairy-free (optional)
2-3 teaspoons vanilla syrup
handful of ice
DIRECTIONS
Pour 4 ounces of cold brew coffee concentrate into a large glass.
Add a handful of ice.
Pour 4 ounces of your favorite dairy-free milk over the ice.
Stir in vanilla syrup one teaspoon at a time (optional), to the sweetness you desire.
Spray dairy-free whipped cream or cold foam over the top.
Hope you love this iced coffee as much as I do!
