Even as a boy mom, Valentine's Day is usually pretty fun at our house.

Since pink and red and hearts are my favorite, this is definitely my time to shine.

My rough and tumble boys may not be into pink and hearts, but they are definitely into food.

So I just go crazy making all the heart-shaped foods all day long. And we all win.

A little pink here. A little red there. And hearts everywhere.

Here are some of the best Valentine recipes we've made over the years...

and how to turn them into festive hearts for your family.

1. PANCAKES IN HEART SHAPE

Start Valentine's Day with delicious dairy and egg free pancakes.

Y'all can see what I did here with these pancakes.

Total freehand and no shame in that.

On the flipside, they look fiiiiiiiine, lol.

I've tried plenty of pancake shape tools to no avail.

Let me know which ones actually work, if you will.

Until then, my family will take my makeshift heart pancakes any day.

Feel free to top these with sweet strawberries and dairy-free whipped cream to get really festive.

2. HEART SHAPE BROWNIES

Next up, how about some heart shaped brownies?

My kiddos are huge brownie fans.

Sadly, it took us years to perfect a dairy-free AND egg-free brownie.

But we finally did it with stellar results.

I always get three cheers for homemade brownies!

Chocolate goodness abounds, while it's hard to believe these contain no milk.

Just bake up a pan and cut these bad boys out with a heart shape cookie cutter.

Not a huge fan of chocolate? What's wrong with you?! Just kidding.

Look no further than these easy peasy dairy-free and egg-free rice crispy treats.

No baking required. This is a stove-top recipe.

Just make up a pan, let them cool, and cut them out with a heart cookie cutter wiped in dairy-free butter (for no sticking).

Piping on pink or red icing is totally optional but really fun.

I have a homemade icing recipe for you or just use your favorite canned icing.

4. COOKIE PIE HEART DECORATED

If you're in the mood to do a little decorating,

try your hand at this super easy cookie pie!

No need to make the pie in the shape of a heart, just draw a heart on with icing.

Decorating with icing is as simple as piping it onto the cooled cookie using a baggie with the corner snipped.

However, if you have a cool decorating tool...of course this a great reason to pull it out and use it.

My kids love cookie pies so much that they ask for this on their birthdays, too.
