Set The Timer Home School Schedule

UPDATE: Here’s our new home school tips & free schedule sheet.

If you home school, do you struggle with your daily schedule?

I know I do.

But as often happens, I was inspired by a Classical Conversations article that has become a game-changer in our house.

If you have access to CC articles in the catalog, your guides, Leigh Bortins’ books…

you’ll want to read them!

And read them more than once.

These resources are chock full of so many helpful ideas and encouragement for your schooling.

I’ve read this article in my Foundations Guide, “A Real Schedule for Real Homeschooling Parents” each of my three years in CC.

And this is the year the light bulb finally went off.

The concept made so much sense and is so simple.

I can handle this!

The majority of information that CC puts out for parents is just plain real life practical.

And I appreciate that.

So this schedule is not my idea.

I simply put Leigh’s suggestions into a colorful chart,

laminated it,

and bought some wipe-able wet erase markers for checking our list each day.

These are affiliate links at no extra cost to you. 🙂

I won’t spend a lot of time telling you what the article says about daily schedules.

You can read that in your Foundations Guide.

But I want to emphasize that this schedule accommodates my needs as a work-from-home mom who always has business to tend to.

So many of the moms in my Classical Conversations community are also working from home,

and I’m hopeful they will find this daily layout inspiring as well.

I will also add that implementing a timer into our daily schedule has been life-changing.

My kids love hearing it beep and will work LONGER because of the regulation of a fair and objective kitchen timer.

It’s quite mind boggling, actually.

If you are looking to try a new schedule in YOUR home school, I would definitely give this a shot.
