Calm Heart Magnesium

As a food allergy mom with probably more stress than I realize, I had to share something that I've recently discovered.

It could be helpful to many of you!

I have been on a diet and exercise regiment for a few months.

And things were going great...until about the 7th week.

When I went to bed at night, I noticed my heart was skipping.

At first I ignored it.

But after many nights, I got more concerned.

And that concern led to a couple actual panic attacks, which I have never had before.

I feel for anyone who has these regularly because it was very scary.

There's nothing worse than trying to decide if you should call an ambulance or not!

So I went to see my doctor.

He did some blood work and an EKG that all came out fine.

The next step was to get a heart monitor.

But I was determined that my diet would help solve the problem.

I cut caffeine, no help.

I added some natural sugars, no help.

I added lots of salt, no help.

I added electrolytes, nothing.

I upped my carbs and then my calories, to no avail.

Then I had a friend mention magnesium.

Willing to try anything, I went into the health food store and pleaded, "show me the magnesium".

I thought it would be another pill to add to my other supplements.

But I was pleasantly surprised when the employee gave me a couple packets of drink mix.

Then I read this on the back of the sample:

Wow!

My heart palpitations were my original concern but when I saw this whole list of other ailments brought on by magnesium deficiency, I was shocked.

I had at least 11 of these 16 issues.

For one, my doctors were baffled that at age 36 my bones were thinning...classified as osteopenia....early stages of osteoporosis.

Geez!

Low energy and fatigue, I thought that was just part of homeschooling.

Nervousness and anxiety, those are just common food allergy mom issues, right?

Stress? I thought that was from running three businesses simultaneously.

But from the first day I took Natural Vitality Natural Calm Magnesium (affiliate)...

my heart palpitations were gone at bed time.

And as a result, so was my inability to sleep, my nervousness, and my anxiety.

I posted these symptoms on Instagram and had a nurse comment that she's amazed at how many magnesium IV bags she is hooking up each day.

Apparently many of us are magnesium deficient and don't know it.

So I just had to post this information and encourage you to talk to your doctor about possibly supplementing magnesium if you have some of these symptoms.

It has made a world of difference for me in just a week.

Here are the ingredients on my current bottle of Calm.

But always be sure to check labels because ingredients can change. Plus, Calm has different flavors with different ingredients.

UPDATE: All palps are gone, hair is thicker, headaches are no longer migraines, haven't had another panic attack. I can always work on low energy, but that may have to do with the fact that I don't get enough sleep in general.

I hope this works for you, too!

Be sure to talk to your doctor first before trying magnesium or other supplements.

  1. 32 yes old and started developing heart palpitations about 2 months ago. Doc just started me on potassium and I bought some magnesium oxide. Fingers crossed this helps. I've had several severe panic attacks because of this. Been to the ER twice. This has been a real nightmare for me. I notice them most after eating or lying down. I sure do wish you guys the best.

  2. It is so crazy reading your post right now. I have been suffering with the same exact thing. It has been so stressful! I've had heart palpitations and racing heart for about a month now, 2 panic attacks that have sent me to the Er and scared my family horribly, weakness, fatigue, severe headaches. All the doctors tell me is that I have anxiety and I need to take meds and talk with a counselor. It is so frustrating because deep down I know there is something wrong with in turn is causing me to panic. One Er doctor did tell me I was low on magnesium and to try a spray on oil which i will recieve today but I'm also looking forward to trying the Calm. I'm looking for any kind of relief as it is hard to function each and every day. Im too young for this!!

    1. @Gloria A Fleury,
You truly sound like me. I'm only 32 years old never thought I'd have to see a cardiologist. I'm wishing u the best.

  3. I got skip beats every day and my doctor just told Me to take magnesium I got one called Vita fusion magnesium gummies 165 mg because thats all they had on shelf I hope those are okay

  4. Just wanted to share this product on your site, Im totally just a casual reader and not paid to promote this but I was having extreme problems with benign PVCs and it was super scary. Im only 35 years old and I was having upwards of about 15k PVCs a day. I got them to stop entirely by using a product you can find on Amazon called Heart Calm, by Vital Biologics. Its a mix of 3 types of magnesium, taurine and COQ10. I tried using CALM but it wasn't strong enough for my palpitations? or perhaps the Magnesium wasn't as bioavailable. This product WORKS. I am a new person for it and I don't have to deal with panic inducing PVCs anymore. Anyway, I hope this helps someone who is searching for answers like I was. <3

  5. Try glutamine if magnesium doesn’t work. Dissolve a little bit in a glass of water. Calms your digestive tract. Just my experience! A miracle for me with afib!

  6. Further to my previous comment on 20th July. I've also noticed that a general dull ache in my chest has pretty much disappeared too. I've also started taking a general multi vitamin. I still get the occasional palpitation but nothing out of the ordinary. I had two days in a row last week when I had none. I've also noticed that I am not getting them when I'm lying down in bed as I used to get them quite regularly whilst lying down.

My general well being has definitely improved as other aches and pains seems to have gone too. Happy days !!

  7. I occasionally get palpitations, may be one every few days for the past few years. But about a week ago I had several in one day. The following day I had more than the previous day. I was getting very concerned. On to the internet and read about magnesium deficiencies. I immediately went to the local shop and picked up some soluble magnesium and started taking them. I then started logging the amount of palpitations I was having. The following day I had 18. The next day 12 and today I've had none so far. I've also noticed an annoying eye twitch that I've had daily for the last few months has pretty much disappeared.

I'm overjoyed that I have finally found the cause of these palpitations. Fingers crossed it was all down to a magnesium deficiency.

    1. HI Paul!

how much Magnesium did you take? I am already taking 250, and i was debating to increase to 500. I read in one blog that a doctor said the dosage to stop the heart palps is 500mg twice a day. I've rad other blogs that said that was too much. I definitely think mine have something to do with menopause. I'e never had any heart issues of any kind.

  8. I've recently been having very similar heart issues and all the tests I've been through have been normal. Last year I started a magnesium supplement because my birth control was giving me headaches daily. I stopped birth control and decided I wouldn't need my magnesium supplement and that's when all my heart issues started. Now if I forget my magnesium supplement I have heart episodes and it is scary. I have a cardiologist appointment next month and I'm hoping I can talk with him about my magnesium intake and figure out if this is my problem. Anyone else have these issues or any advice? I'm currently taking calcium, magnesium zinc vitamins.

    1. Hi Amanda! I have never had a lot of hearts palps but recently, I have had MANY. It wouldn’t surprise me to find that I am deficient in magnesium. I started taking a calcium/magnesium/vit D supplement and I think it really helped right away but then I remembered that taking magnesium orally has a pretty low absorption rate. I had bought magnesium oil many years ago and ordered more and tonight, I did a magnesium flake soak and since my soak, I don’t think I have had even one heart palp. I highly recommend doing the transdermal magnesium! I feel more relaxed after the soak than I have been all day because I have been really worried about these palps that have seemed to come out of nowhere! Good luck! 🙂

  9. Dr. Becker's BioNutrients Magnesium Gel helped me. The ingredients list magnesium chloride as well as potassium chloride and others. Apply twice daily to the bottom of your feet.

  10. I also suffered heart palpitations and irregular skipping beats. I also took magnesium/calcium supplement called Hydrocal. It worked for me 1 flat teaspoonful daily to start then I cut it down to every other day.
    Great product it worked

  11. The only Magnesium I've found besides Calm, that works is Ionic Magnesium. It's liquid, tastes harsh so use it in OJ or tea.
Amazon carries it. I think the brand is Good State.

  12. I have been taking magnesium suplements for around 3 years now and am convinced they control pvc (heart palpitations). I drink more than recommended and if I go a few days without magnesium, the pvcs always return. Sometimes I wake in the night from them, but if I think to get up and take 500mg of magnesium citrate, I can feel the palpitations stop within 15 mins and I get back to sleep.
    It truly works for me.

  13. Anonymous, there are other ways to take it. Try a capsule or something, maybe? I'm also reading about other deficiencies that can cause the palps...potassium is one. I'm working on that now, too...with coconut water, avacado, adding back in bananas, etc.

    1. Thanks!! I just want to try what you used because it works, I've heard magnesium glycinate helps and I've heard low electrolytes can cause palps too

  14. Hi Jamie, i have heart arrhythmia which also called as heart palpitation for 4 years. All these years has been a real nightmare. I have consulted many doctors, acupuncturist and natural healers but no changes. I am now fed up and aggressively looking for a permanent solution once and for all. I also have acid reflux problem. After reading ur article i tried taking magnesium but my stomach often get bloated. Any other solution for my case? Tq

  15. Hi Vieve. I started with 1 tsp a day and moved to 2. Then I read I can take more until stools are soft. So I can do about 3 tsp a day. I've had a couple bouts of the palps in the past month but nothing like it was. Trying to decide if I should still do the heart monitor or not. But overall, I think the mag has made a huge difference and improvement. I hope you find the same!

  16. So I found this blog post because I am looking to see if magnesium will stop MY heart palpitations! I've been thru everything you mentioned and more. Dr. rules out heart issues and for some reason I discovered that a glass or two or three takes the PVCs away! I'm trying to pin point what it is tho. Dr. said protein and I agree, but maybe magnesium also? I'm eating seeds and nuts high in magnesium to see if it helps. Soooo happy it helped you! What exactly was the dose you took? Take care! Vieve
