Valentine's Day Menu
Happy Valentine's Day, Food Allergy Friends!
What to make? What to eat? How to make the day special if you have food allergies?
As a last-minute mom who keeps things easy, I think I can help!
Alright moms, I know we particularly love hearts and chocolate and pink and red together.
But after stressing for fourteen years about Valentine's Day with food allergies,
my two tween boys assure me they don't really care, HA!
Mom is off. the. hook.
But there's two things to keep in mind.
You may be a mom of girls who actually do care.
And it's a known fact that boys do like to eat, any day of the year. Valentine's Day included.
And as I'm writing this blog post two days before Valentine's Day itself,
as you can imagine, I'm a little behind. #momlife
Maybe you are, too? Solidarity, my friend.
So let's keep this simple.
I have a ton of easy ideas from over the years that will help you pull off a fun, easy, tasty allergy-friendly Valentine's Day without all the hassle....
that any boys or girls will love, at any age.
So let's get this party started with some EASY things you can make in the next two days.
Make any of this in the shape of a heart and you get bonus points.
First up, pancakes for Valentine's morning.
So easy to shape into hearts, just free-hand it, ha ha!
Trust me, anyone can do it.
Here's our super simple vegan pancake recipe, no dairy-free milk required.
For dinner, you can't go wrong with a dairy-free heart pizza.
Everyone else is getting one for carry-out so you should have one, too. Allergy-friendly, of course.
The tomato sauce is just 4 dump-it ingredients.
The crust is simple, just shape it into a heart on your pan.
Let the kids top it and eat it, and you enjoy some carry-out. Yep, I'd do that.
If you've waited until Valentine's Day to read this post,
I've got you covered, too.
These dairy-free, egg-free Oreo Truffles take 3 ingredients and just 10 minutes.
You're golden! Perhaps I went a little heavy on the powdered sugar. Ha!
Or how about heart shape rice crispy treats. Super allergy-friendly.
These WILL require using the stove, but still only take minutes.
Cutting them into hearts with a cookie cutter is easy peasy, but the kids will dig it.
Martha Steward points for the piped pink icing, but skip it if you'd prefer.
Nobody will ever know. I won't tell.
If you're needing some chocolate this February 14th,
you can't go wrong with these dairy & egg free brownies!
They will take a little more time AND the oven...(gasp!)
but imagine them cut into hearts for your family (cookie cutter suggested).
I mean, it might be worth it, lol.
Then we have the big dogs.
Dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free sugar cookies.
Yes, there's rolling and cutting and baking involved.
But there's also an amazing royal icing that hardens and stacks.
So it's all worth it...if you have time. I probably don't, lol.
Prefer drop sugar cookies? Check these out!
You can have frosted sugar cookies with Valentine sprinkles in an hour.
Like homemade treats but don't want to make them yourself?
What if you trick the family into making all the snacks?!
This I do with a dairy-free chocolate fondue spread.
Mom runs to the store and throws chocolate in the mini crock...and the family starts doing the dipping. Glory!
This one's really a win, win.
For those of you already over it and ready to run to the store for pre-packaged goodies,
there are so many dairy-free options these days.
And I found the mother-load of dairy-free Valentine candy at Target.
Why Target? Because you can grab Starbucks while you're there for all your hard work this holiday.
Hope these last-minute, dairy-free Valentine recipes and food ideas help all my food allergy mamas out there.
